MSD – The Management Guru.

Indian Cricket Captain – MAHENDRA SINGH DHONI, has gained respect and appeal from all corners of the world because of the way he has led the team and held the expectation of the 2nd highest populated country in the world for the last 3-4 years. His universal appeal has led to people citing his examples in various fields and aspects of management at all levels. He was recently in Top 100 most influential people of 2011 by TIME magazine in the world above Mukesh Ambani and Barack Obama. MSD has done country proud not only with his on field activities but also off field activities to an extent. He is liked by people not only for being captain cool but also because of his down to earth humility and head on shoulder attitude.

There are characteristics and qualities in the man what makes him successful and different from others. One of most important one is the humility and down to earth. Coming from a middle class back ground MSD has always shown patience and low profile. He has never shown arrogance or attitude or air despite being so successful and popular which shows that he has his head on shoulders and mind in place. He knows the value of this which is because of his upbringing and tough times he and his family have gone through. He has never blown his own trumpet and has been very straight forward with his criticism and appreciation of his fellow players. That’s a real leader and captain.


Dhoni on the field has always gone on his instincts and on what he feels is to be done. That’s what separates him from others. He is not the one to hesitate or bog down in taking unconventional decisions also. Same time he never afraid to accept his mistakes in public also because he is very aware of that fact that not all decisions taken by him will be 100% accurate. But still he leads by example and without any fear. He always takes full responsibility of what he is doing on the field. He is in such control that team players always support him in whatever he does which makes it a successful team. The team know that there’s is only 1 captain and the best result will come only when all decisions come from one direction though Dhoni has always been seen taking
views and advise of senior players. A very good example was him coming before the man in form Yuvraj Singh in World Cup finals where he believed in himself and consulted coach and seniors and then went ahead and played the innings of his life.

Dhoni has maintained composure and never crossed the line whether talking to press or people or anywhere. He looks to be the man in control always and he always thinks for TEAM INDIA. He has so far lived upto the never ending expectations of such a huge number of crazy fans. Dhoni is a team maker and a born leader. He will back the young players and give them ample opportunities to prove themselves. He will seek advice from seniors and take advantage of their experience.
Dhoni has never been seen shouting on his team mates. He is very quiet worker and lets his work do the talking & looks in control of all situations. He respects opposition and plays to his and his teams’ strength.

 

These are few things and qualities which all countrymen can try and learn from our cricket captain – Mahendra Singh Dhoni.

  2. He is definitely one of the best and very comparable to Kapil Dev who was very much like this in the 80’s. Both of them have similarities for sure.
